CPM's latest release Rebel Roots serves as a musical tribute to the iconic rock blues sound! Rebel Roots also sees the return of Bear Cat Phillips with his original band 'The Blue Flannels' including Paul Martínez, Keith Christmas and Dave Charles. We sat down with the Bear Cat Phillips to unearth the secrets behind Rebel Roots!

What was the inspiration behind the album?
The idea was to capture that unique sound of a live band in full flow, and playing blues straight from the heart in its most sincerest form.

Rebel Roots was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios, which served as a musical hub of inspiration for the album. What was it like recording at the studios?
Rockfield Studios is stuff of legends - Bohemian Rhapsody / The Stone Roses and Lemmy. Recording at Rockfield certainly brings its own magic!

This album features notable compositional and musical appearances from Keith Christmas, Paul Martinez, and David Charles. What did their musical experience bring to the album?
Having Paul Martínez, Keith Christmas and Dave Charles back from the original group (The Blue Flannels) was the icing on the cake! I'm delighted to have these esteemed musicians whom I’ve known for many moons on this record - Keith played acoustic guitar on David Bowie's ‘Space Oddity’, Paul played with the Deep Purple supergroup; Paice, Ashton & Lord, the Adverts and at Live Aid in Philadelphia with Led Zeppelin. Dave Charles career includes drums with Dave Edmunds and Man, producer for the Charlatans and appearances with Carl Perkins with Eric Clapton, George Harrison and too many others to mention. These guys are the best in their field.

Raw unadulterated deep-down blues complete with the unique authentic sound of Rockfield Studios.

I’d be B sharp and see - the only way to be!
