Mont Cenis
July 2, 2024
Warner Chappell Production Music France announces Mont Cenis, a new label created in collaboration with Lost-Tapes, a division of Prodigious (Publicis). Mont Cenis specialises in individual short projects helmed by established composers. Projects are named for the composers behind them, who are given creative freedom to demonstrate their expertise and passion in the genre of their choosing.
Mont Cenis debuts with three EPs, the first of many planned releases.
Clément Froissart - This debut EP is trippy and evocative, with a 60s sensibility that could fit on the "instrumental psych-rock" shelf of a record collection. The EP’s centerpiece, "Colorado," is a journey through the American desert, with surf-rock inspired guitars combined with deep synth notes to create a mystic atmosphere leading to an uplifting, expansive climax.
Mont Cenis’ second EP, Simon Benesch, is a free-spirited, danceable "Neo-Yéyé" project that pays tribute to one of France's golden ages of music with a touch of modernity. "Yéyé" was a pop music style from 1960s Western Europe, inspired by American and British rock & roll. Its name comes from popular English-singing bands using a "yeah! yeah!" refrain. This genre saw major success in France, and Simon Benesch taps into it in a fresh way with both male and female singers.
The third EP, Thomas Lucas, climactic explosions. The result is a modern electronic sound combining digital and analogue instruments. It covers a range of emotions while remaining dynamic and high-energy, featuring evolutions, breaks, and change-ups.
